I first remember Bob as our milkman calling along New Road in Chilworth, my mum used to give me the money to pay Bob on a Saturday morning when he called. My first job after leaving school was in the Servery at Unigate dairy 109 Stoke Road, the same place that Bob started his round. From my first day at work Bob spoke to me and made a very nervous young lad feel very welcome . We quickly became friends and being a big Genesis fan and knowing that Phil Collins lived on Bob's round, I asked him to get an album signed for me . This he duly did , but not until after Phil gave him a telling off for knocking on his door so early in the morning just to get an autograph , especially when Phil had left a cheque on the door step to pay for his milk ! . Forty years later , I still have that signed album and it's still one of my most treasured possessions and that's thanks to Bob. I was saddened to hear of Bob's passing , and although I hadn't seen Bob for many many years, I have and will always remember him fondly.
